The stable, sustained, and rapid development of my country's national economy and high-tech has promoted the rapid development of my country's aluminum smelting and aluminum profile processing industries. The output of my country's aluminum, aluminum alloy profiles and industrial aluminum profiles reached 8.793 million tons in 2006, surpassing the United States to become the world's first; the output in 2007 reached 12.508 million tons, an increase of 42.45% over the same period last year, setting a new record high; imports in 2007 690,000 tons of industrial aluminum, a year-on-year increase of 0.6%; exports of industrial aluminum profiles were 1.853 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 49.5%, and net exports of aluminum alloy profiles were 1.163 million tons; in 2007, the apparent consumption of industrial aluminum in my country was 11.345 million tons. Among the output of my country’s aluminum industry from January to June of 2008, the output of alumina was 11.129 million tons, an increase of 7.1% over the same period in 2007. The annual output in 2008 is expected to be 23 million tons; the output of electrolytic aluminum is 6.62 million tons, compared with the same period in 2007. An increase of 12.9%, the annual output in 2008 is expected to reach 14.5 million tons; the aluminum processing material is 6.879 million tons, an increase of 38.3% over the same period in 2007, and the annual output in 2008 is expected to reach 14 million tons.
